Wreck fishing trip to Cork
4th June 2012
Four members returned to Cork in Southern Ireland for a spot of wreck fishing. With Easterly winds blowing for the entire 3 days, the weather did not bode too well for any type of fishing. However, the lads stuck at it and quite a few species of fish were caught. Some good cod were landed, as well as pollock, whiting and one or two conger. One of the anglers, who was light tackle fishing, hooked a common skate, but after battling with it for 10 minutes, alas it got away. It got the blood racing though! All in all, it was a good fishing trip, despite the weather.

Sea angling trip to Rhyl
July 2012.
The Rhyl fishing trip on the 8th July, aboard Gwyn Andrews' boat "GOLDILOCKS", was once again a good one. We made an early start, setting off from home at 3am, in order to commence angling at 5am. The sea was calm and the weather was sunny. We stopped for mackerel on the way out; they were a bit hard to find at first, but we soon had a plentiful catch. Later, having anchored the boat on a sandy bank, our anglers caught big and small fish throughout the day. Tope were not present, but a few Bull Huss were landed. One of our youngest members, 14 year old Conner Stansfield, scooped top honours and the £18 pool prize. Not only did he catch the biggest fish, a Bull Huss of 8lb 6oz, but such was his skill (I think he gets it from his dad) that he also caught the most species of fish - 8 in total including a rare Scad. The points were as follows: first with 256 points went to Dave Kitchingman; second with 153 points was Graham Stansfield; and close by, in third place, was Conner Stansfield with 128 points. An excellent day's fishing was had by all.
